Width reports do not currently meet this collection’s confirmation rule. We keep the model here for comparison; check the fit reports before choosing it for a wide foot.

A good point. A caveat.

A pair can work well in one respect and divide opinion in another. Here are separate wearer observations about the same named version.

How they change with wear

What happens to the appearance and condition of a pair? These are separate observations of the named version, not a forecast of its lifespan.

Why our picks are different for men over 40

A man over 40 with a wide foot has usually learned the hard way that 'roomy' in a product description means little. This list does not read descriptions. It reads wearers who say the shoe fits wide, and a review that calls the same shoe narrow or standard counts against it. Wide is not a size and not a medical claim; it is how the shoe wears on the people who reviewed it. Whether a maker sells a separate wide fitting is a different fact, which we do not collect now. A shoe without enough reviews stays off the list, which is our gap.

Our editorial judgement.

Before you buy

Answered from what we hold
Is this the same as a shoe sold in wide sizes?

No. This version lists shoes that wearers call wide in the fitting they bought. Whether a maker sells a separate wide fitting is a different fact, and we do not collect it at the moment.

Should I size up if my feet are wide?

We do not give size advice. Each shoe's page shows how wearers describe length and width, and you choose the size.

Do the fit reports tell me which size to buy?

They describe general fit reported by other wearers. They do not establish which size will fit your foot; the model page keeps the underlying reports and any disagreement.

Are the prices current shopping offers?

These are prices from the recorded manufacturer pages, for the recorded versions. They are not live offers. Open a pair to see its price date and use its Google link to look for current options.

Do more recommendations mean a better shoe?

The counts show how many of the collected reviews recommend each model. Different models have different numbers of reviews; these counts do not establish a ranking.

How we choose these pairs

One fact, confirmed by agreeing independent reviews, decides who is on this list.

Highest overall review score first. On equal scores, more reviewing authors first, then maker and model; pairs without a score follow alphabetically. An order to browse — no pair here has a place.

An independent guide from Gentlesneaker.

We bring together owner feedback, reviews and maker details to explain what each pair offers. Review and sizing summaries cover the model; detailed observations keep their named versions and conditions. Individual experiences are not a promise for every wearer.
